Hard to imagine that this is Paris, but it's a new area called La Défense that sits at the city limits. Full of futuristic buildings, as you can see here. The star is the Grande Arche, a giant building in the shape of an upside-down letter "U." The most interesting feature was the elevator, running along steel cables, that goes from street level directly to the top floor, surrounded only by air. Not for the faint of heart.

Unfortunately, the arch, itself, is not very photogenic. However..

This is what you see looking out from underneath the arch. The two figures in the foreground add human interest and scale to the picture. The sun adds a highlight between two of the towers.

Some minor retouching was used to separate the two figures from the background. And the image had some additional processing to remove extraneous detail.
