A year in the life...

On Sept 6, 2025, a large spaceship appeared over New York City. It sat motionless for three days. Then a port opened, and a large, cylindrical object protruded. A ray flashed from the end of the cylinder and half of the city was destroyed in an instant. Then the ship departed after sending a radio message that at first appeared to be encrypted. After two weeks, NSA decoded the message that seemed to explain the destruction of NYC. It said: "Test, please ignore."
